When we hear the word amazons [amazonki], we associate it with Greek female warriors from ancient times.
And this association is not random. The amazons of today are women endowed with an exceptional will to fight- to fight the breast cancer. To help them and their families in their everyday struggle, together with Hill&Knowlton agency, we created a dedicated educative and social networking portal Amazonki.net
Its aim is to spread essential information about how to diagnose and fight the disease at subsequent stages of its development, as well as how to proceed with the convalescence.
Amazonki.net is not only an encyclopaedia of breast cancer, but also a social networking portal, where all the interested parties may support each other, share their experiences, and find a friend much more valuable than any psychologist.
Guided by the claim of the portal- Cancer is no life sentence- we wanted to target the widest audience possible to show how to lead a happy life despite the disease.

Breast cancer is the most frequent malignant tumor among women. Annual breast cancer incidence in Poland amounts to 10,000 cases. The older the woman, the higher the risk, especially after manopause. Amazonki.net is a virtual world for people who have to face this cancer. The core of the portal is formed by the specialist medical knowledge on the subject associated with the social networking elements. The main asset of the portal we have created is that it enables the visitors to share their experiences with others. Apart from a chat list, a gallery, and a forum, every user may use my safe haven tab, where she can write a few words about herself, publish her photograph, and - what is truly important- describe the course of her disease, the chosen method of therapy, and the hospital where it took place. In contrary to the users of other social networking sites, Amazonki.net members value highly their privacy.
Thus, every amazon decides on her own to whom give access to her personal account.
Every user of the portal may access the so-called infobase, where all the information on the pathological condition is available. Naturally, the site also posesses all te regular portal features, such as the chat list, photo gallery, or even e-mail box.

Having created Amazonki.pl portal, we felt it was something truly exceptional. Here, the women suffering from breast cancer may give full vent to their feelings, share their opinions and impressions. We made every effort for them to feel comfortable ensuring the highest level of privacy. The fact that only within the first two weeks of portal’s existence, as many as 1500 users registered, proves that this initiative was valuable and needed.
